The focus of this course is to give the delegates practical advice on how to
tackle all problems in a structured manner. This is achieved by adopting one of
the most commonly used automotive industry standards, the 8D approach. The
reasons for this are that it takes the problem solver through a logical and
necessary series of steps required for successful problem solving.
These include:
- The need to protect the Customer.
- Accurately determine the problem requiring resolution.
- Correct and methodical approach to find the root cause and the escape point
(the point in the process that allowed the Customer to experience this problem).
- Determine appropriate permanent resolution to the problem.
- Prevent recurrence of the problem.
The course explains the problem solving rationale and the importance of
sequentially working through each progressive step of the problem solving
approach regardless of the complexity of the problem.
There is considerable focus placed on the use of a wide selection of optional
additional tools to provide answers and evidence for your problem solving
activities. Time and care is placed on the decision process used to determine
the need to invoke the use of these additional tools, this is done through the
use of three case studies.
The course is available as:
- 1 day Awareness Session
- 2 day Training course
- 3+ day Facilitated Deployment
- 4 day Subject Facilitator training
